Reduction linocut
Reduction linocut is my favourite printmaking method. Here I start with a single block of lino and progressively carve it inbetween printing layers. Not only do I have to think in reverse, printing the lightest colours first, but I also have to make sure that all of the layers line up each time. Here you can see all of the layers printed in my print, "A gaggle of gregarious greylag geese".
Solar plate etching
Solar plate etching uses metal plates coated in photo-sensitive polymer. An image is drawn or printed on acetate and transferred to the plate using UV light. This process creates a variety of different finishes, from blocky relief prints to delicate photo reproductions. Below are three prints that I have made using this method, finished with watercolour.
